Used Ford Model T

The Ford Model T was the first “world car”, It was built in the US and England and was assembled in various European, Asian, and South American countries. More than 15 million Model Ts were produced from 1908 to 1927. The Model T is considered the first affordable car. The assembly line method that Henry Ford implemented in the production of the car allowed Ford to boost production and the philosophy that workers should be able to afford the car drastically cut its price down. The used Ford Model T employed a front mounted 2.9-liter 4-cylinder en bloc motor generating 20.2 horsepower hp and top speed of 40 to 45 mph Fuel economy is known to be 13 to 21 mpg and engine was at home with either gasoline or ethanol. But the decreasing cost of gas at that time and the prohibition made the continued use of ethanol impractical. The first models featured a flywheel magneto and a coil trembler coil to produce sufficient power to start and regulate speed, which was accomplished by hand cranking. A fair amount of experience and skill is required to find the right timing or any load and speed. The Magneto was upgraded in 1915 to supply power for electric headlights and horn. The Magneto ignition system and coil trembler were retained to ensure reliability even after the Model T was equipped with a battery and generator for lights and starting. But most cars built in 1919 and onwards featured a pedal on the floor for electric starting. A rear-wheel drive, the Model T featured a three-speed planetary gear transmission, although by today’s standards, it could be a two-speed since the three included the reverse. The car’s transmission was moderated by a lever mounted beside the driver\\\'s seat and three foot pedals. The left pedal was for engaging the gear; the middle pedal was for engaging; the reverse gear and right pedal activated the engine brake, and the foot lever controlled parking brake also served as an emergency brake. The Model T used a semi-elliptical spring suspension, which was transversely mounted in front and rear axles. Front axle was dropped to form a seamless rod of vanadium steel. Wheels were those used in artilleries boosted by steel spokes. Tires were 30” in diameter, 3.5” wide in the rear, 2” in the front. Throughout its life, the Model did not undergo significant revisions. Some changes that were essentially cosmetic were the addition of a front door in the touring version 1911, introduction of closed cars in 1915, and the installation of electric lights. Model T cars consisted of coupes, sedans, and trucks. The Model T was voted the most influential car of the 20th century.
